Wavy Weight

New model lead-free casting weights!

Lead is highly poisonous, and because we want to protect our fishing waters, we decided to stop using lead casting weights and look for an alternative.

We started designing and found the following properties to be particularly important:

– Lead-free and environmentally friendly.
– Compact (no huge concrete blocks to achieve the desired weight).
– Strong and resistant (concrete filled with steel tends to break easier on impact).
– Good casting properties where the model and weight distribution are important.
– Grip on the bottom to stop them from moving when fishing against a sloped bottom or through current, and to give good resistance for setting the hook.
– Rounded and smooth; especially the models with protruding nubs sometimes catch weeds/algae and sometimes the line twists around them, causing tangles, we want to prevent this.
– Must come off the bottom easily when reeling in.

That is how, after a lot of experimenting, we finally ended up with our Wavy Weight model!

Lead-free, compact, casts excellently and the “waves” have a good grip on any bottom, incl. slopes!

Our weights are made up of mostly steel, some naturally ocurring filler materials (sand, gypsum, etc.), natural colouring and a small portion water based binder
